Hi all,
Welcome to our very own Tai Chi 2 Site. I will use it for general information and maybe the odd photo if I can suss out how to transfer photos.
Just a little reminder for our newcomers, (although it will help to remind us all of what we are aiming for), Tai Chi itself is not just an exercise regime, it combines deep breathing and relaxation with flowing movements, it offers steady rhythmic movements in order to reinforce the bodies internal systems, it helps muscle strength and improves balance and flexibility.
Someone who is feeling good and fulfilled will be likely to have well functioning organs. The body works best when the mind is content. Tai Chi works holistically to improve the functioning of the body and the mind.
Info for prospective newcomers as at May 2023
To learn the Tai Chi form properly usually takes 9 to 12 months of weekly classes, which is why we like to start any new recruitments all together. This year we will be holding an introduction class on Monday 12th June 2023 . If you are interested in joining the class you may attend on this day to see if you think Tai Chi will be right for you. You can join in the exercises, tai chi walks, Quigong breathing exercises and the relaxation session at the end of class.
We meet on Monday afternoons at the Guildhall in Cheadle and I commence the Tai Chi exercise class at 2.00pm and go through the full exercise routine. We aim to remain relaxed and calm at all times whilst doing the routine so it is suitable for all ages. (We only have two gentlemen attending but more are welcome) We then do Tai chi walks which help with balance issues. Our Tai Chi instructor then takes over and goes through the Quigong breathing exercises then after a short break we do the Tai Chi form twice or three times. The Tai Chi form takes about 10 minutes in total so you will see it is still worthwhile attending the class even without joining in the Tai Chi form part. We then sit for a ten minute relaxation session after which the main class leaves about 3.30 pm and the new contingent remain with the Tai Chi form instructor for 20 minutes and very slowly learn the full routine, adding a little more to the routine each session. Once you have learnt a new section you can join in with the main class then watch whilst they complete the routine.
We have room for a maximum of 10 more members so the first 10 to register will be asked to come along, any others will need to go on a waiting list.
You will need good supporting shoes or trainers. Sandals and flip flops are not advised.
